I bring stories to life.

I studied creative nonfiction writing at the University of Chicago, and I’ve worked for newspapers, digital magazines and publishers. My favorite type of writing is the profile, where you really get to know someone and their work. I love interviewing others and finding out what makes them tick.

I seek out new perspectives & celebrate creativity.

Fueled by affection for Japanese literature, I taught English in Japan for three years. Living abroad gave me perspective on different modes of living, which I carry with me in my work.

In 2013, I founded a nationally acclaimed arts journal called fields. fields was created to celebrate the stories of up-and-coming and unsung artists. While managing the journal, I hosted arts events in Austin, including readings, art exhibitions, and concerts. I’ve also served as a moderator at the Texas Book Festival, a panelist at the Writers League of Texas conference and a guest curator at the ICOSA Gallery.

I use emerging technologies to address our most significant challenges.

I participated in the Student Design Charette at the Interaction Design Association’s 2020 conference in Milan, Italy, where I designed a way to use voice-enabled assistance technology to empower students with ADHD.

I also helped create a visual interface for the IBM Blockchain Platform, allowing product owners to easily keep track of materials as they progress through the supply chain. For this project, I was recognized as a certified IBM Co-Creator.

These experiences have helped me to realize the potential for new and emerging technologies to improve user experience. I am interested in exploring them further and using them to make our world a more fun, equitable, and sustainable place.
